Race case
| 3 - 2 - 1 - 0: LIFT OFF FOR RACE CASE: |
Hallo to everybody on this speedy new area off the main Firestream Foundation homepage.
This chapter should have been written at least 20 years ago, when all of us were younger still.
Now it will deal with the whole involvement of the Foundation and friends in historic motorsports.
HISTORIC RACING:
Already some weeks before any speed event we would go to (as spectators)in the past , we got excited and geared up to fantasize what cars and actions we would enjoy there. In fact we went all over Europe to watch other people race and only, on rare occasion, we were active ourselves (with a Triumph TR3 in the mid eighties). However nice the weekends were, they usually ended in frustration of ours, having again not raced. This is all tolerable when you are in your twenties and still dreaming, but believe me, - it becomes unmanageable when you are close to fifty.
DOES RACING MAKE SENSE?:
Certainly. If you love fast motoring, looking out to hit the apex
of long bend on a country road, revving an engine within an inch of its life - be certain to belong to an endangered species. There is no way to escape this ever increasing web of speed traps and radar sets. First you will get fined, then they will take your driving license. Alternatives are called for. Historic racing is our first choice and recommended prescription. What medicines will you need?
